Buddy Finds a New Home

Buddy, a beautiful little blue heeler, came to be in our care after he was found wandering around the parking lot near the Allyn Grocery Store. His story starts as an apparent case of "dumping", a theme we so very often. Why this sweet little guy came to be in Allyn is anyone's guess but Buddy has spend the last month in the care of loving foster family. He has thrived, gaining much needed weight, spend many hours playing ball and being lavished with lots of pets, brushing and car rides. He now has a new loving home and we are very happy for him!

 Animal Angels to the Rescue

I had just settled down for a much anticipated lazy Sunday afternoon. I turned on my computer to check my email and saw an email that was an urgent call for help. At this point I knew my lazy afternoon had just went out the window.

The email was about a homeless pit bull mom and her newborn pups taking shelter under a neighbors storage shed. It certainly is not the type of email I want to read with outdoor temperatures at freezing. This could be a potential death sentence for newborn pups. So after I placed an urgent call to animal control for assistance I left my house armed with blankets, carrier and food. Not really knowing what to expect I expected the worst. The Humane Society of Mason County (HSMC) is a private 501c 3 non-profit organization that serves the Mason County area of Washington State. Our organization adheres to a philosophy of  “no-kill” shelter and animal rescue. We believe in providing a second chances for companion animals whether they are abandoned, abused, neglected or homeless. We believe that all animals deserve the chance to live, thrive and be loved in forever home! It is our sincere desire to set provide aid when needed and to create opportunities for these needy animals to have a second chance at life.

The Humane Society of Mason County has been working hard for many years to establish a large “no-kill” shelter facility to serve our county. Until such time, we will continue to push forward and educate the public on animal welfare issues, assistance through foster care programs and offer much needed aid to the residents in our county.
